Solar Battery for the Taino-Farm DR

Dear family, friends, and supporters,

Today, we come to you with a very special request that is close to our hearts. As many of you know, we are deeply involved in building the Taino Farm—a sustainable farming project dedicated to promoting ecological agriculture, aquaponics, and responsible use of our natural resources.

In our endeavor to make Taino Farm a leader in sustainability and self-sufficiency, we have already installed a solar energy system. This installation was a crucial first step in meeting our energy needs in an eco-friendly manner. However, we have unfortunately found that this solar system alone is not sufficient to cover our entire energy demand. Additionally, frequent power outages from the local utility jeopardize the oxygen supply to our aquaponics system. Moreover, the costs associated with grid electricity are exorbitant, and the agreed-upon reimbursement for excess solar power fed back into the grid is not functioning. This has presented us with another challenge that we are now seeking to address.

To bridge this gap and secure our energy supply, the installation of a battery storage system is imperative. With this expansion, we can store the energy generated during the day and utilize it during nighttime or periods of insufficient sunlight. Furthermore, the battery system can serve as a backup during power outages. This will enable us to achieve a significantly higher level of autonomy and sustainability in the farm’s energy supply, further reducing our ecological footprint.

However, realizing this crucial step requires financial resources beyond our current means. The target amount for the installation of the battery storage system is 15,000 Euros. This includes a battery of 25-30 kWh capacity plus two inverters.

Despite revenues from agriculture and tourism, we are not yet generating surpluses as the project is still in its developmental phase.

Therefore, we humbly ask for your support, our family, friends, and supporters, at this critical juncture. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in helping us overcome this challenge and take a significant step towards a sustainable future for Taino Farm.

We firmly believe that together, anything is possible, and with your support, we will be able to realize our dream of a sustainable, self-sufficient farming project. So, we invite you to join us in taking action and making a tangible difference—for us, our community, and the environment.

We sincerely thank you for any form of support, whether it’s through donations, sharing this appeal with others, or simply sending positive thoughts and energy our way. You are warmly welcome to visit us in Los Brazos, Dominican Republic.

With grateful regards and hope in our hearts,

Your Taino Farm Team
